Elisa Contemporary Art’s exhibit “Journey Around the World” explores different locations and cultures through photography and art. Featured photographers include John Conn and Cheryl Koralik as well as artists Alexis Duque, Yasemin Kackar Demirel and Ferdinanda Florence . This international group highlights Cuba, South America, West Africa, the Middle East and the United States.
The exhibition runs through December 17th.
For almost forty years, local residents of and visitors to Heber Springs, Arkansas could get their pictures taken for a mere 25 cents (50 cents for three) by one of the commercial photographers in town – Mike Disfarmer – an eccentric, whose postcard-sized portraits, made between 1915 and 1959, vividly and artfully depicted everyday people in rural America.

Elisa Contemporary Art pays tribute to superheroes in a new exhibition, My Super Hero II – Back In the Bronx. The exhibition which opened September 13, features artists Mitch McGee, Don Morris, Oliver Peterson and Peter & Madeline Powell.

In 2014, as Batman turned 75; Thor, appearing first in 1962 as a Norse god will be transformed into a female character, and the first Superman comic book sells for $3.2MM, Elisa Contemporary Art pays tribute to these comic book heroes and heroines (and even one Supervillan) .
A reception will be held Saturday Oct. 11 from 5-7pm with a portion of gallery sales going to support Free Arts NYC, Arts to Grow and Art Therapy Outreach Center.
The exhibition runs through Nov. 1.

On Saturday, September 13 from 4-7pm, The Bronx Museum’s Open House series features the opening reception of Here I Am: Photographs by Lisa Leone.
