Riverdale: Best NYC Neighborhood For Families

 
Time Out New York asked readers to vote on the best NYC neighborhoods for families. Not surprisingly to us, Riverdale is #6. Riverdale may not be as hip as Williamsburg, but who needs hip when you are raising a family. With plenty of green space, public parks and affordable rents, Riverdale is quietly becoming an alternative to pricey Manhattan and Brooklyn. Baby strollers and dog walkers abound in this tree-lined walkable community. The sound of children flood the neighborhood when the school bell rings.  Kids throng around froyo and pizza hangouts much they did back in the day.   Parks are filled with analog play: tag, hide and seek, sidewalk drawing, climbing, swinging and jumping. Baseball fields and basketball courts feature after-school leagues and pick-up games.  The area is blessed with kid-friendly amenities to choose from such as The Bronx Zoo, Wave Hill, Yankee Stadium and Van Cortlandt Park to name a few.
